Going from wallpaper to paint on a couple rooms. I know I have to get that texture crap to spread over the walls for the paint to adhere to. Question is, can I put that texture stuff right over what remaining wallpaper glue/backing that didn't come off and be cool....or do I really HAVE to spend the time and effort to remove the remaining shit?

Safer to get it off. Never know how the glue will react to your paint.

but the glue wouldn't touch the pain. That thick textured shit would :beatsme:

Just trying to get out of the extra labor. Not to mention, there is very little ventilation in the bathroom for wallpaper remover fumes to escape. What dumb fuck put wallpaper in a bathroom to begin with.

You're doing some kind of knockdown finish?

Had to google that. Nope. I was gonna match what's already there. It's textured a little, but more like if you took a big spreader, and just left the remnant at the end of a large swipe. It's more like occasional "waves"?

No idea on the terminology

Ok it's still a knockdown finish, just one of the various finishing techniques.

maaaaan i'd take the time and $$ and do cheap tile. and yes, you do have to get all that shit off or it's going to look absolutely terrible.

You may get lucky if you skim coat it thick enough .... if you go too thin the little hairs from the wall paper will show through.

Typically a good coat or two of drywall compound can cover it.

That's what I figured.

I already got off the backing and sanded off the rest of the glue from the breakfast nook or whatever that useless room is

In the bathroom though, which doesn't have particularly good light, I'm not sure how much I care

I've taken down wallpaper in favor of paint and I never had to texture anything. Just gotta get a good scoring tool and some of that gel shit that dissolves the glue.

Gotta sand the surface though, and fill in any gaps. Then paint.

My parents had some browm and orange flower shit, with shiny silver background in our dining room.

1979 was great.

I miss that late '60s wood paneling that was in my office before renovation.

Nope. 80s. "I'm a fat city woman who wants to be country" wallpaper.

I ripped it off 7 years ago and have been looking at drywall and glue ever since
