So get really pissy if I'm kept waiting with no explanation and I walked out of my hair appointment Sunday. mainly because no one said anything and I could see my stylist dying someone's long hair which looked like there was no end in sight. He called me later to apologize and say he broke his nose Friday and had to reschedule people, but why make me wait with no explanation? Tell me or better yet call me and tell me the deal and I could have come in later. Was I out of line to walk out and switch stylists?

I have a bit of a temper if I feel dissed.

Nope. That's no different that being dissed by any other service. It's worse due to not even attempting to make contact with you about the situation. Sounds like this wasn't a last second emergency and, obviously, some people were contacted to reschedule. Fuck 'em.
