It was great, but very expensive. Like $12 draft beer expensive.

The scenery is spectacular. Not just the Fjords, but places like the Lofoten Islands where you can hike to views like this:

One thing I also never realized, it can be really green north of the Arctic Circle. I've always though of those places as being really barren. It certainly isn't there.

One thing Euros do so much better than us, Free Breakfast at Hotels!!! Norway was great about this. Literally 1000x better than our crappy "continental breakfast".

1000x is probably an understatement for the hotel breakfast in Norwegian countries.

it varies by country. Breakfast in france and Italy are relatively shitty compared to the rest of the meals. I lurve the nasty UK breakfasts

A few other highlights.

Bergen, especially the Bryggen, was awesome. We didn't have rain there for all but the end of our stay, which is really unusual.

Oslo. The best thing was the Viking Museum. Also it's a great city in general. Great public transpo.

Tunnels everywhere. Seem like they used a lot of their oil money for that.

No litter or crap like that, everything seemed really clean.

Their mountains are steep as shit, and they have no concept of marking hiking trails like we do here. Die if you fuck up too bad. They could use some of that oil money to fund a forest service like we do.

I do like that about euros and their lack of ridiculous lawsuits - not everything needs a warning label. You're hiking in the mountains, know your shit idiots.

I will say, the one thing that sucks about Norway is the Utah-like retail alcohol sales. All wine and liquor is sold through government stores only open 10am-6pm Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm Sat, and closed Sunday. Beer can be bought in grocery stores, but with similar time restrictions. As a tourist, the middle of the day is when you're doing all your activities, not hunting for the liquor store to buy a bottle of wine, or finding a grocery to get beer.

Yeah, it’s pretty nanny state around there. Floored me having to pay to go into a casino and having a two drink max.
