Not much dicking around in the movie, pretty non-stop action from the jump.

Yep. And the way they tell the story from the sea, air and Mole...great Nolan-esque story-telling.

I saw it again the weekend before last in IMAX. Took the 12yo and he loved it. Not as much as "Saving Private Ryan" but he seemed to get the importance of the historical event.

A good movie but not as good as I thought it would be.

Then again, I'm seeing it on a TV and not in IMAX or anything.

Watched it last night. Agree. The previews made it look way better than it ended up being. It wasn't very action packed for a war movie.

how is this not the favorite to win best picture? I love Marge Gunderson as much as anyone, but come on.

Went to see Darkest Hour a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed it. Gary gets nominated for BA but don't know if he wins.

Oh yeah, he nails Churchill. Obviously he did a lot of research for the character but he does some little insignificant things (like facial movements) that suggest he went really deep with finding out the little stuff that WC must have done. Really makes it authentic.

What'shername that played Rose in Downton Abbey, she does a good job as his secretary too.

It is interesting that many have seemed to forget/forgive Gary's old rep for being a wife-beater. I guess time does heal some wounds for some people.

forgot about that. It does seem like it was only one accuser, not that it didn't happen but seems less cut and dried than Weinstein.

I think he's a fantastic actor, it's just curious how some seem to get more acceptance for past transgressions.

Well, it WAS about a retreat during the war. I think it was good.

23.Juggs » Tue Feb 20, 2018 4:36 pm

Not saying it was bad. But even a retreat, it was slow as hell for a war movie.
