We seem to be cleaning up on CB's, any of them projected to be safeties?

No, especially if Marco Wilson isn't back from his knee (although all accounts project he will be). If Wilson is back then Dean slides over to the Star (see also "nickel") where CGJ just left. Your Gator safeties next season will be (in order of frequency on the field) Brad Stewart, Jeawon Taylor, Shawn Davis, Amari Burney, Donovan Stiner, and whatever scrubs are left after that.

Chaney to UT.. This is good news all over the place for us. He had the talent to run a balanced O at UGA, he will not be able to do shit at UT.. And UGA loses another piece. And yeah, more millions of dollars.

Remember this guy and mocking his twitter posts when he was at FSU?
Georgia coach Kirby Smart has promoted James Coley to offensive coordinator.

Coley was already serving as the Bulldogs’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He replaces Jim Chaney, who abruptly left for the same position at Tennessee.

Coley has been on the UGA coaching staff since Smart took over as head coach in 2016.

Smart must be a dick if someone would leave a team with the record of UGA the past few years for the same job at a team with the record of UT.

I think ole Zooker would do ok in the big 12. They wouldn’t have a clue what he was doing when he recruited defensive players.

Me too but I don't think he's a west coast guy. Besides, he's made Kentucky successful (by their standards), he'd be an idiot to leave.

Florida all over this "SEC Events we can't wait to see in 2019" article. Nice to be relevant again.

Gators need to defend home turf better in 2019.
https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-f ... ight-room/

Florida v Miami is #2 game for this writer as far as season openers in the SEC go. A couple months back, it would've been #1 if Miami wouldn't have fucked itself multiple times since then.
https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-f ... 4-openers/

NCAA.com is low-balling us a bit for 2019, but that's fine. Gators in at #12.
https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-f ... -for-2019/

Per this mock draft, Jachai Polite projected at #12 to Green Bay. I'm sure @RetireMoms will love the lily-white, distraction-free environment if this happens.

Though no one was really on "commit watch" this past weekend, Gators seemed to make a good impression on recruits. Charles Moore put Florida in as his leader. Mark-Antony Richards seems interested and Kaiir Elam seemed to be enjoying the prospect of being a legacy player here. Here's more on these guys and others in these articles.

Here's an article. Not really a normal "shlink" per se, because it's more substantive than most of the recycled crap that's out there. But I will say about Will Miles, again. He's a very..."thoughtful" writer...as in he has many thoughts. And he holds his thoughts above most other people's thoughts. So wherein he's thoughtful, he's probably not as appreciative as most thoughtful people. And he's verbose as shit. So, with that all being said, here's his latest on recruiting and developing talent and how it applies to Mullen. Moving forward, I'll just post his shit with the disclaimer of "buckle up" or "he's a long article".

Yeah, I assumed. I think because he was such a Georgia lean for a long time and with his ties to Florida, it's a difficult decision. If he goes to Georgia, no one outside of Florida will be up in arms with the way Georgia has recruited the last few years. However, if that does happen, he will piss of a lot of the Florida fan base and some of our folks will absolutely let him have it...right or wrong. And if he chooses Florida, then he'll hear it from Georgia and Miami fans. Good times, this recruiting shit.

Well, well, well...look who's on top of the new coach rankings.
https://collegefootballnews.com/2019/01 ... -guys-do/4
1. Dan Mullen, Florida (10-3)
After Florida went 4-7 in 2017, and appeared lifeless and without any hope for the offense, in came Mullen. He instantly changed around the culture, and … he instantly lost to Kentucky. There was a clunker to Missouri and a blowout loss to Georgia, but the team rolled through the final month, whacked Florida State, and destroyed Michigan in the Peach.

2019 Expectation: Win the SEC East title. It’s still Georgia’s division for the taking, but one victory in Jacksonville changes all of that. This might still be around the fourth-best team going in the conference right now, but now the pressure is on.
Early entry projections in the draft.

Scarlett projects as a 5th rounder.

Joseph in the 5th.

It's a heady read but it's very informative. Here's a few nuggets:
The second way to look at development is to examine how a program performs versus the talent that it’s brought in. By this metric, Dan Mullen grades out really, really well.

That shouldn’t be a surprise to Gators fans, who know that Mullen turned around last year’s 4-7 squad. But it’s more than that. Mullen outperformed the Gators recruiting ranking by 7.5 spots. No other new coach outperformed his program’s recruiting ranking at all.

It also shouldn’t escape our attention that the bottom name on that list is one of Florida’s biggest rivals, Florida State coach Willie Taggart. Again, it’s pretty clear that Taggart’s first year in Tallahassee didn’t go very well as the Seminoles missed its first bowl game in 36 seasons.

But by all measures, this is a dumpster fire. It’s not just that Florida State wasn’t any good. It’s that FSU had an average national recruiting rankings from 2015-2018 of 5.8, had the fifth most talented roster in 2018 and was still terrible. This is a team that should be competing with Clemson, but instead was barely able to beat Samford and got run off the field by Florida.
Overall, his [Mullen's] average national recruiting ranking is 28.6 and his average FPI finish is 28.6. This means that Mullen is going to have really good teams at Florida, as the Gators are likely going to end up recruiting near a top-10 level if this cycle is any indication.

But this data also indicates that Mullen will have trouble consistently competing with Alabama.

This has nothing to do with Mullen. The numbers show that teams ranked 1-10 in talent win 38.5 percent of games against teams more talented and 78.9 percent against teams less talented. That winning percentage drops to 34.4 percent for teams ranked 11-20 in talent.
Coming into this season Mullen had won 40 percent of his games against more talented opponents and 84 percent against less talented. Mullen added to that this year, going 3-1 (75%) against more talented teams in 2018 (LSU, Georgia, FSU and Michigan) and 7-2 (78%) against less talented teams.

The truth is that the loss to Georgia was acceptable. The losses to Missouri and Kentucky were not, or at least won’t be moving forward.

Florida likely will only play three teams with more composite talent in 2019: LSU, Georgia and FSU. If Mullen can go 2-1 in those games, the Gators have a chance for a really special season.

Future WR sounds as tho he does not want to personally assault Billy G, is encouraging some other young man to join him on campus.
